Award for Paradragon paddler

A Purple Warriors club member who is well-known in the dragon boating community, has been honoured as part of the 2023 Soldiering On Awards - winning in the Sporting Excellence category. Glyn Barrell received his award at a glittering and star-studded event in London.

Glynn was medically discharged from the 40th Regiment Royal Artillery after 12 years but refuses to let his limitations restrict his options and adventures. Glyn was introduced to the Purple Warriors charity Dragon Boat club when it was established in 2016. He was in a very dark place mentally at this point in his life and felt worthless and lost. He attests that the Dragon Boat experience saved his life.

We would like to add our congratulations to Glyn, we are very proud to have him and other para-athletes as part of our sport. We know his story will continue to inspire others.
